Texas Shakespeare Festival Activities

Pre-Show Introductions

You can make your visit to the Texas Shakespeare Festival even better with a pre-show Introduction. Learn about the show you are about to enjoy, the history, the show’s company, and the story. Pre-Show Introductions are held each Thursday and Friday evening, beginning promptly at 6:30 PM in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center lobby. Introductions last approximately 15 minutes and admission is free, but seating is limited.

Curtain Call Talk-Back

Following each opening night performance, we invite you to remain in the theatre for an informal discussion with the directors, designers, and cast members. Your questions and comments are welcome!

The Shakespeare Garden

A garden filled with flowers, shrubs, herbs and trees mentioned in William Shakespeare’s plays is a new addition to the East Texas area. Appropriately named the Texas Shakespeare Garden, it is located between the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center and the Child Development Center on the Kilgore College Campus.

Kilgore Improvement and Beautification Association member Nelda Lewis provided the original inspiration for the garden. Ms. Lewis researched the project for two years, making sure it is as authentic as possible, and she also gave the first donation to the project. Backed by many people in the community, the garden was completed with donations from garden clubs, civic groups and private citizens.

The Kilgore Improvement and Beautification Association has donated the garden to Kilgore College and dedicated it to Texas Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Raymond Caldwell.

Open Change-Over

After every matinee performance the audience is invited to watch technical crews change-over the set and lights from matinee to the evening performance. A Texas Shakespeare Festival company member will informally narrate each changeover. Admission is free.
