*A select number of technical company members will join the Festival’s acting company to during our Beijing, China Tour from August 9-26. The Festival will travel to Beijing, during the Summer Olympics, to perform all four shows in Centennial Hall at Beijing University. An additional $1,000 stipend, a shared hotel room, meal allowances, and airfare will be provided.

The Festival is searching for qualified technical theatre artists to fill positions for all technical areas including costumes, lighting, properties, scenic, scene painting, sound, stage management, ticket office, and concessions. 

Stipends for technical positions vary but all positions include dorm room and eleven meals a week. 

The Festival’s work call schedule is filled with the work required for a five show rotating (a different show each night) repertory season with a daily work call that is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., six days a week for the six-week production period.  The shows are performed Thursday through Sunday with matinee and evening performances each day. After the shows are up and running some members will remain to serve on running and changeover crews with a significant reduction in the daily work schedule.  Most crewmembers will be assigned to running crews for two or three shows in the five-show season. Changeovers are scheduled in the afternoon and evening after the performances. 

Although the technical crews are asked to do a tremendous amount of work, the Festival attempts to create an environment that is both nurturing and humane and one that creates a spirit of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.

DIRECTORS
Festival Directors POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Position offers a $4,000 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25-July 7), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $400 travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as a director for one show in a four-show rotating repertory. Attend all scheduled daily, technical and dress rehearsals.  Attend all scheduled production and company meetings.  Attend all opening night performances and talk back sessions. Attend, if possible, a design conference to be scheduled. Assist with publicity needs of the Festival.

Fight Director POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Position offers a $2,000 stipend for the six-week contract (May 25-July 7), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement.  
Responsibilities:
Position is traditionally combined with an additional contract (ie: Actor/Fight Director). To serve as a fight director for all the Festival’s production, teach one or more Wednesday morning workshop class for the company and a weeklong stage combat workshop intensive for High School students. Attend all rehearsals and fight calls as needed. Attend all require technical rehearsals and production meetings.


Children's Show Director POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Position offers a $1,500 stipend for the total contract (June 26-July 22), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as a director for the Festival’s children’s show. Attend all scheduled daily, technical and dress rehearsals.  Attend all scheduled production and company meetings. 


Education Director / Assistant Company Manager
Position offers a $4,000 stipend for the total contract (May 25 – July 8), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement. 

Responsibilities:
To assist the Managing Director with all company manager related duties and responsibilities.  To organize, coordinate, and supervise all Festival educational programs, that includes an acting workshop for High School students, and eight Wednesday morning workshop classes.

COSTUME DEPARTMENT
Costume Designer POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Position offers a $4,000 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25 – July 7), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $400 travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as a costume designer in a four-show rotating repertory. Design all needed costume pieces and assist in the shopping and/or acquisition of costumes for one show in the festival season within the parameters of the costume budget and production schedule; supply plots, drawings and renderings as needed; will attend all schedule technical rehearsals for assigned show; assist in the costume shop on other shows when appropriate; and provide completed drawings or renderings for possible exhibition during the season.


Costume Shop Supervisor POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Position offers a $5,000 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25 – July 7), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $400 travel reimbursement.  
Responsibilities:
To serve as costume supervisor for the Festival’s costume shop in a five-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for maintaining budget and expenditures within the parameters of the Costume budget and production schedule; works with the Company Manager to schedule costume fittings; assists in the costume shop as appropriate; will be responsible for the overall supervision of costume personnel; and may serve as Head of Wardrobe during the production run.

Costume Cutter/Draper

Position offers a $3,500 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25 – July 7), single  occupancy dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two costume cutter/drapers in a four-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for cutting fabric and all necessary and appropriate cutter/draper duties to fulfill the needs of the Festival season; and will work closely with the costume designers and costume shop supervisor to maintain the parameters of the costume budget and production schedule.

First Hand
Position offers a $3,000 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25-July 7), double occupancy dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement.  
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two costume First Hands in a four-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for stitching, sewing and all other necessary and appropriate First Hand duties to fulfill the needs of the Festival season; will work closely with the costume shop supervisor to maintain the parameters of the costume budget and production schedule.


Stitcher/Wardrobe
Position offers a $3,000 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 25 – Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of four costume Stitcher/wardrobe in a five-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for stitching, sewing and all other necessary and appropriate costuming duties to fulfill the needs of the Festival season; and will serve on costume wardrobe crew during the productions.

LIGHTING DEPARTMENT

Responsibilities:
To serve as lighting designer for a four-show rotating repertory season. Responsibilities:
To serve as master electrician for a five-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for the implementation, within the parameters of the lighting budget and production schedule, of the light design; responsible for the installation and maintenance of all lighting equipment; supervise and assign light running and change-over crews; will attend all lighting dry techs and technical rehearsals; serve as light board operator, if needed; serve as the Lighting Designer for the children’s production and provide plots, drawings and renderings, as needed; and will provide completed light plots, drawings or rendering for possible exhibition during the season.


Assistant Master Electrician
Position offers a $2,500 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 25-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week.   
Responsibilities:
To serve as the assistant master electrician for a five-show rotating repertory season; assist in the installation and maintenance of all lighting equipment; serve on lighting running and change-over crews; and will serve as master electrician on the children’s production.


Lighting Intern

Responsibilities:
To serve as properties supervisor for a four-show rotating repertory season. Will work closely with the Properties Designer to determine the needs for the Festival’s productions, working within the parameters of the Festival’s budget and production schedule; will organize and maintain the properties budget, build and deadline schedule; responsible for the construction of all scenic and hand properties; will assist in the acquisition of all properties for the Festival season.

Responsibilities:
To serve as properties artisan for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will work closely with the properties designer and the properties supervisor to determine the properties needs for the Festival season; will assist in the construction, painting and/or acquisition of all scenic and hand properties; will supervise and organize the properties running and changeover crews; will serve on the properties running and change-over crews, as needed; and will serve as Properties Designer for the children's production.


Properties Intern
Position offers a $1,250 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 25-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two properties interns for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will assist in the construction, painting and/or acquisition of all scenic and hand properties; and serve on the properties running and changeover crews.

SCENIC DEPARTMENT
Scenic and Properties Designer POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Position offers a $6,000 stipend a seven-week contract (May 19–July 7), private occupancy dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $400 limited travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as scenic and properties designer for a four-show rotating repertory season and the children’s show. Responsible for the design of all scenic and properties elements for the season within the parameters of the Festival scenic and properties budget and production schedule; will provide sketches and models, working drawings, elevations, color schemes or color sketches; will be responsible in overseeing the properties department in the design, acquisition and implementation of properties elements for the Festival season; will provide completed renderings and models for possible exhibition during the season.


Festival Technical Director
Position offers a $7,000 stipend for a eleven-week contract (May 19–Aug. 6), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $400 travel reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
To serve as technical director for a five-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for the construction, mounting, rigging and maintaining of all scenic pieces and such set props that are needed; responsible in providing working drawings for all scenic elements; responsible for the overall supervision of the scenic department within the parameters of the Festival scenic budget and production schedule; organize and supervise scenic running and change-over crews.

Scenic Artist
Position offers a $3,000 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25-July 7), double dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as scenic artist for a four-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for the painting of all scenic elements and maintaining the parameters of the Festival scenic budget and production schedule; will work closely with the Scenic Designer and Technical Director in all scenic painting projects; and will, if needed, assist in design and implementation of Front Lobby Season Exhibition and Stratford Room layout.


Assistant Scenic Artist
Position offers a $2,000 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 25-Aug. 6), double dorm room, and eleven meals a week.  
Responsibilities:
Will work closely with the scenic artist in all scenic painting projects; will assist in preparing, basing, and painting all scenic elements of a five-show repertory season; will be responsible for touch-ups as needed during the production run; when not needed by the scenic artist the scenic artist technician will be assigned to the properties department to assist in the construction, acquisition, and painting of scenic and hand properties; and will serve on the properties running and change-over crew.


Scenic Painting Intern

Responsibilities:
Will work closely with the scenic artist in all scenic painting projects; will assist in preparing, basing, and painting all scenic elements of a five-show repertory season; will be responsible for touch-ups as needed during the production run; when not needed by the scenic artist the scenic artist technician will be assigned to the properties department to assist in the construction, acquisition, and painting of scenic and hand properties; and will serve on the properties running and change-over crew.


Master Carpenter
Position offers a $4,400 stipend for an eleven-week contract (May 19-Aug. 6), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement
Responsibilities:
To serve as the master carpenter for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will assist in the construction, mounting, rigging and maintaining of all scenic pieces and such set props as needed; assist in the supervision of the scenic department; and serve on scenic running and change-over crews.


Carpenter
Position offers a $3,300 stipend for an eleven-week contract (May 19-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of five scenic carpenters for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will assist in the building of all sets and scenic elements for the Festival season; and will serve on scenic running and change-over crews.

SOUND DEPARTMENT
Sound Designer
Position offers a $3,500 stipend for a six-week contract (May 25-July 7), private dorm room, eleven meals a week, and $400 in travel reimbursement. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as sound designer for a four-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for finding, creating and recording all sound, music and sound effects to meet the needs of the Festival season within a limited budget and time restraint; attend rehearsals when appropriate; and attend all technical rehearsals.  The Sound Designer, along with the Sound Technician and Sound Intern, is also responsible for setting up in-house sound (live microphones, house microphones, etc.) and video (green room, house, etc.) monitoring systems; and assigns sound running crew.


Sound Technician
Position offers a $2,000 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 25-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as sound Technician for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will assist the Sound Designer in finding or creating all sound, music and sound effects to meet the needs of the Festival season; and will attend rehearsals when appropriate. The Sound Technician will also assist in the running and maintaining of in-house sound (live microphones, house microphones, etc.) and video (green room, house, etc.)  monitoring systems; and will serve on sound running crews as assigned.

Sound Intern

Responsibilities:
To serve as Sound Intern for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will assist the Sound Designer in sound duties to meet the needs of the Festival season; attend rehearsals when appropriate; assist the Sound Technician in the setting-up, running and maintaining of in-house sound (live microphones, house microphones, etc.) and video (green room, house, etc.) monitoring systems; and serve on sound running crews as assigned.

STAGE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
Stage Manager
Position offers a $4,000 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 22-Aug. 6), private occupancy dorm room, eleven meals a week and a $350 travel reimbursement.  
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two stage managers for a four-show rotating repertory season. Will be assigned as stage manager to two of the four shows in the season; serves as a liaison between the director and department heads; responsible for the running and organization of daily rehearsals; responsible for scheduling and posting rehearsal and production calls and any other stage management duties that are deemed necessary and appropriate while working within the parameters of the Festival’s production schedule; responsible for calling, from the booth, the two shows assigned; works with the technical director and department heads to determine needs for running crews for assigned shows; and attend all schedule rehearsals, paper techs, dry techs, and technical rehearsals. Stage Managers answer to and are supervised by resident Managing Director/Production Manager.

Assistant Stage Manager/Children's Show Stage Manager
Position offers a $2,500 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 22-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two Assistant Stage Managers for a four-show rotating repertory season. Will be assigned to two of the four shows in the season and will assist the Stage Manager in the running and organization of daily rehearsals; will assist in the scheduling and posting rehearsal and production calls and any other stage management duties that are deemed necessary and appropriate; responsible for backstage organization during the productions; and will attend all schedule rehearsals, paper techs, dry techs, and technical rehearsals; will serve as Stage Manager for the children's show.


Assistant Stage Manager
Position offers a $2,000 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 22-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two Assistant Stage Managers for a four-show rotating repertory season. Will be assigned to two of the four shows in the season and will assist the Stage Manager in the running and organization of daily rehearsals; will assist in the scheduling and posting rehearsal and production calls and any other stage management duties that are deemed necessary and appropriate; responsible for backstage organization during the productions; and will attend all schedule rehearsals, paper techs, dry techs, and technical rehearsals; will serve as the assistant stage manager for the children's show.


TICKET OFFICE DEPARTMENT 
Ticket Office Manager
Position offers a $4,000 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 22-Aug. 6), private occupancy dorm room, eleven meals a week, and a $350 travel reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
To serve as the Festival’s Ticket Office Manager for a five-show rotating repertory season. Responsible for all ticket office duties that are deemed necessary and appropriate, including but not limited to, taking ticket orders by telephone and in person, processing mail orders, preparing daily reports, and assisting in the publicity efforts of the Festival; and will serve on the front of house crew for at least one show. Responsible for maintaining a professional impression in attire and personal appearance while working in the Festival’s Ticket Office and serving as front of house crew. Festival Ticket Office personnel will work with the Festival’s computerized ticketing system, FOLIO Box Office Management System.


Ticket Office Intern
Position offers a $1,250 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 22-Aug. 6), double occupancy dorm room, and eleven meals a week.
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two ticket office interns for a five-show rotating repertory season. Will assist in all ticket office duties that are deemed necessary and appropriate, including but not limited to, taking ticket orders by telephone and in person, processing mail orders, preparing daily reports, and assisting in the publicity efforts of the Festival; will serve as an usher and/or ticket taker during the productions. Responsible for maintaining a professional impression in attire and personal appearance while working in the Festival’s Ticket Office and serving on Front of House crew. CONCESSIONS AND GIFT SHOP DEPARTMENT
Administrative and Concessions /Gift Shop Intern
Position offers a $1,250 stipend for a ten-week contract (May 25-Aug.6), double occupancy dorm room and eleven meals a week. 
Responsibilities:
To serve as one of two Administrative and Concessions/Gift Shop interns for the Festival. Interns will assist in all aspects for the smooth running of the Festival’s concession and gift shop; work at the counter selling concession and gift items during evening and matinee performances; assist in keeping the lobby and concessions areas clean and in good working order; and assist in setting up both lobby display and gift shop.  Interns will also assist the Festival’s administrative staff of the Festival.
