POSITION CLOSED - Sound Designer/Composer

May 15 arrival / July 29 depart

$4,000 stipend / $400 travel / private dorm housing / 14 meals a week

is responsible for overseeing the Sound Department and the design and creation of all sound and music for the four-show repertory. In addition, the sound designer is also responsible for the creation and documentation of the festival sound and video systems. Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, safety conscious, and a  team player with at least two years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Associate Sound Designer

May 15 arrival / July 29 depart

$3,000 stipend / $350 travel / double occupancy dorm housing / 14 meals a week

Assist in the design and creation of all sound and focuses primarily on composing and arranging original music for the four-show repertory season, children's show, and auxiliary shows as needed. This position will also serve on the sound running and changeover crew.  The ASD will design sound for The Belle of Amherst or the children's show. Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, safety conscious, and a team player with at least one year of professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.The candidate should also have the ability to lift more than 25 pounds and work at heights above 16'. 

 

Production Sound Engineer

May 15 arrival / July 29 depart

$3,000 stipend / $350 travel / double occupancy dorm housing / 14 meals a week

Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the festival sound and video systems and the live sound needs of the musical production. They also run all-recording sessions for voiceover work, sound effects, and music. This position will also serve on the sound running and changeover crew. The production engineer also designs sound for the children's show or The Belle of Amherst and oversees the sound needs for the Talent Show. Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, safety conscious, and a  team player with at least one year of professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate should also have the ability to lift more than 25 pounds and work at heights above 16'. 

 

Sound Intern

May 15 arrival / July 29 depart

$1,250 stipend / dobule occupancy dorm housing / 14 meals a week

Will serve as a technical intern assigned primarily to the sound department and will explore all areas of theatrical sound design by assisting the sound designer, assistant sound designer, and production sound engineer. They are given the opportunity to work with music composition, sound effects creation, sound system design and installation, and recording. This position will also serve on the sound running and changeover crew. The sound intern also oversees the sound needs for the Chinese Theatre Night. Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, safety conscious, and a team player with at least two years of college training in technical theatre, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate should also have the ability to lift more than 25 pounds and work at heights above 16'.
