Texas Shakespeare Festival 2013 Acting Company will consist of 11 men and 4 women and an Acting Intern Company of 5 men and 2 women. Seeking actors with classical and musical training, or experience, to work in a true rotating repertory ensemble. Actors are cast in at least 3 of the 5 shows.
Actors receive $350 per week, private dorm housing, eleven meals a week, and limited travel reimbursement. Acting Interns receive $125 a week, shared dorm housing, and eleven meals a week. Actors perform no technical duties other than full company strike on July 29 and 30.
Contract commitment is May 18 through July 31, 2013.

A Note to Actors Concerning Headshots and Resumes
TSF prefers color photos in portrait (not landscape) format with the actor’s name at the bottom. All resumes should contain an E-mail address, a telephone number, and the actor’s height.
Audition Content
Each audition must consist of two, one minute contrasting classical monologues, one of which must be in Shakespearean verse (not a sonnet) and approximately 16 bars from an appropriate song that demonstrates the actor’s optimum vocal range.
For live auditions each of the pieces should be no longer than 2 minutes.
Electronic auditions, each monologue may be up to five minutes long, may include a full stanza of a song, and include personal, conversational comments. The taped audition should also include a close-up as well as a full-body shot.
Audition Music
There will not be an accompanist available for the auditions. However, we have provided downloadable selections once the musical has been announced.
You are not required to use the music selections but if you do not have taped accompaniment, or if you would like to use a selection from the musical, we will provide the selections below for your convenience as soon as they are available.

Casting
The Texas Shakespeare Festival operates as a true rotating repertory company, with four consecutive opening nights and performances Tuesday through Sunday. Our company’s strength lies in the concept that an actor plays a variety of roles. All actors are cast in three shows of the four-show repertory. Acting Interns will be cast in three shows of the four-show repertory and the children’s production. All roles will be specified in your contract prior to arrival.
Summer Contract Dates
The actors must arrive in Kilgore, Texas on Saturday, May 18.
The first full company meeting will be on Sunday, May 19.
Rehearsal dates are from May 19 to June 26.
The acting company is contracted through May 18 to July 31 to allow for a company strike and housing checkout.
Salary
Stipend actors receive a total stipend of $3,500 for the ten-week commitment. Contracts include living accommodations, some meals and a travel stipend.
Acting Interns receive a total stipend of $1,250 for the ten-week commitment. Contracts include living accommodations and some meals.
Housing
The Festival accommodates the company members in dormitory housing on the campus of Kilgore College. A limited number of company members receive a private room. Other members of the company are assigned one roommate.
